Both semi final games came down to the last rock.

On sheet 2, Benoit Legaultís team was trailing 8-2 after five ends but they scored four in the sixth, stole one in the seventh and then stole two more in the eight to earn their ticket to the championship game.

On sheet 1, Jay Olandís team used the ďbend-but-donít-breakĒ defense strategy to stay close, trailing 5-3 coming home and without the hammer. They were lying two and hoping to force an extra end when their opponents delivered their last rock. John Coutts had a choice of either drawing to the 8-foot or taking out one of Team Olandís rocks but instead he kicked in an own goal, taking out his own rock that was third shot and let Team Oland score four points to win the game.

In the championship final, Benoit Legaultís team showed its Ďnever-say-dieí attitude. After falling behind 7-1 in the third end, they made it 7-3 after five and then stole five points in the sixth end to take control of the game.

Action on the ice

2021-11-25 HLCC House League action on the ice

The season is young but some curlers are already in top form. Just take a look at John Coutts in his game vs Benoit Legault on Thursday, Nov. 25. In the 8th end, down 8-5, playing the yellow stones and with the hammer, on his last throw he calls for an angle raised takeout of Benoitís blue rock that is sitting second shot. His weight and line are perfect and the shot works exactly as called, giving Johnís team four points and the 9-8 win.
